Former President Donald Trump has called for the death penalty for migrants who kill U.S. citizens and law enforcement officers during campaign rallies in Nevada and Colorado. He has also advocated for the death penalty against human and drug traffickers in the past. Trump’s remarks come as he intensifies his anti-immigrant rhetoric in an attempt to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. Trump has often portrayed noncitizens entering the U.S. as a threat to the safety and livelihood of Americans. During his rally in Aurora, Colorado, Trump claimed the city had been “invaded and conquered” by migrants and promised to “rescue” it. However, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, a Republican, disputed Trump’s claims, stating that the narrative was not accurate. Trump has spread similar claims linking immigrants to violence in other states, including baseless allegations about Haitian immigrants in Ohio. Despite local officials denying reports of immigrants harming pets, Trump repeated the false claim during a presidential debate. The former president’s inflammatory rhetoric on immigration continues to be a key focus of his campaigning efforts.
