The fourth day of the championship saw heavyweights take the stage in Dushanbe, with the event being opened by the Director General of the IJF Vlad Marinescu and Ismoil Mahmadzoir, President of Tajik Judo. The ceremony also celebrated the birthday of Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan.
Colombia made history with Brenda Olaya winning gold in the -78kg category, marking the country’s first-ever Junior World Champion. Uzbekistan’s Muhammadsodik Sodikov secured the junior title in the -100kg final with a well-executed Tomoe-Nage. South Korea also celebrated their first victory in the +78kg category, with Hyeonji Lee defeating Celia Cancan of France in the final. Denis Batchaev of an inescapable hold down that earned him the gold in the +100kg final.
The crowds at the championship were thrilled by the impressive performances and sportsmanship displayed by the young judo athletes.
