UM Terps Affirmation Day

The University of Maryland celebrated Affirmation Day on its campus, promoting positivity and mental well-being among students and faculty. The event, organized by the school’s counseling center, aimed to encourage individuals to practice self-affirmation and self-care techniques to improve their mental health.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to participate in various activities, including mindfulness exercises, journaling prompts, and self-affirmation workshops. These activities were designed to help individuals reflect on their strengths, values, and accomplishments, and to boost their self-esteem and confidence.

In addition to promoting self-care, Affirmation Day also highlighted the importance of seeking help and support when needed. Representatives from the counseling center were available to provide information on the resources and services available to students, encouraging them to reach out for assistance with any mental health concerns.

The event received positive feedback from participants, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to focus on their well-being and mental health. Students shared how the activities and workshops helped them to feel more empowered and supported, and inspired them to continue practicing self-affirmation in their daily lives.

Affirmation Day served as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health and self-care, especially in a challenging academic environment. By promoting positivity and encouraging individuals to take care of their well-being, the University of Maryland hopes to create a supportive and inclusive campus community where everyone can thrive.
