Israel has conducted a series of air raids in Beirut targeting the central headquarters of Hezbollah. The attack resulted in massive explosions in the densely populated Haret Hreik neighborhood in southern Beirut, causing buildings to be reduced to rubble and resulting in casualties. This attack was part of Israel’s efforts to dismantle the command chain of Hezbollah, with previous attacks targeting senior military commanders.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pledge to continue attacks against Hezbollah and fight for total victory in Gaza came shortly before the bombing in Beirut. Lebanon Prime Minister Najib Mikati criticized Israel for disregarding global calls for a ceasefire.
The United States had no advance warning of the attack, and the Pentagon confirmed that they were not involved. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has been ongoing for almost a year, has escalated with Israel carrying out more powerful attacks that have resulted in a high number of casualties on both sides.
Netanyahu stated that operations against Hezbollah would continue until objectives are met, indicating a continued escalation of violence in the region. The conflict has caused a significant number of deaths and displaced many people from their homes along the Israel-Lebanon border. This latest attack in Beirut highlights the ongoing tensions and violence between Israel and Hezbollah in the region.
