Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the UN General Assembly and emphasized that it is the Ukrainian people who are suffering the consequences of Russia’s war. He warned that Vladimir Putin plans to attack Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, which could lead to a “nuclear disaster.” Zelenskyy also met with Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss Ukraine’s future in Nato and the need for enhanced air defense.
Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine, with reports of captured Russian soldiers and continued fighting in eastern cities like Vuhledar. Russian forces have not yet reached Vuhledar’s outskirts, according to reports.
Amid the ongoing conflict, Zelenskyy is advocating for support from Western allies, including the UK and US. He is calling for the use of Storm Shadow missiles against Russia and seeking greater backing to end the war. Nato has been making plans for the transport of wounded troops in case of a war with Russia, considering hospital trains as a crucial means of evacuation.
In response to Russia’s ultra-conservative social measures, the Russian parliament has voted to ban the adoption of Russian children in countries where gender reassignment is legal, citing the need to protect children from potentially dangerous conditions.
While the conflict and tensions continue to escalate, Zelenskyy remains committed to seeking peace and support from the international community to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty and protect its people.
