Sen. JD Vance reacted for the first time to allegations against North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, saying that allegations are not necessarily reality. Robinson allegedly made derogatory remarks on a porn website in the past, which he has denied. Some members of his own party have expressed concern over the allegations, but the North Carolina Republican Party reiterated their support for Robinson. Vance stated that it is ultimately up to Robinson and the voters of North Carolina to decide his fate. Vance also mentioned that his ticket does not have plans to campaign with Robinson, who is currently the state’s lieutenant governor. Despite the controversy, former President Trump has not withdrawn his endorsement of Robinson, whom he previously praised as “Martin Luther King on steroids.” North Carolina is a crucial state for Republicans to win in order to secure the White House, with Democrats putting effort into flipping the state blue. In the gubernatorial race, Robinson is polling behind his Democratic opponent. Vance acknowledged that the situation with Robinson needs to play out and that the media and others will investigate further. He will be in North Carolina on Monday for campaigning.
