Schumer is optimistic about avoiding government shutdown

Former President Donald Trump had urged Republicans to shut down the government if they can’t tie a bill to the SAVE Act, a bill related to voting and elections. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell criticized the idea of shutting down the government so close to the election, stating that it would be politically problematic. Ultimately, the decision to avoid a government shutdown will be a discussion between Schumer and Johnson. There is a sense of urgency to reach an agreement and avoid any delays that could negatively impact the American people.
