UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has addressed the Security Council, stating that Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah devices violated international law and may constitute a war crime. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border due to the conflict. The region is on edge, with the potential for further violence and casualties. Diplomatic efforts are still seen as a viable option to prevent a larger conflict.
