Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York City on Monday based on a sealed indictment filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York. Combs, a music icon and entrepreneur, had been living at a hotel in the city for several weeks. His attorney expressed disappointment in the arrest, stating that Combs had voluntarily relocated to New York in anticipation of the charges and maintained his innocence.
It is unclear what specific charges Combs is facing, but he has been the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct since last year. Combs settled a lawsuit with former girlfriend Casandra Ventura, known as Cassie, in November, and has denied all allegations of wrongdoing. Other individuals have also sued Combs, including Dawn Richard, who accused him of groping and threatening her during her time as his employee.
In March, federal investigators searched Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles in relation to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and the solicitation and distribution of illegal drugs and firearms. The search warrant came from the Southern District of New York. Combs, who founded Bad Boy records in the early 1990s, has been a prominent figure in the music industry, known by various names like Puffy and P. Diddy.
The investigation into Combs’ alleged criminal activities is ongoing, and more information is expected to be released as the case unfolds. Diddy’s attorney and representatives have maintained his innocence and vowed to clear his name in court.
