This lack of diversity is hindering the industry’s ability to address the skills gap that costs the digital economy an estimated £63B annually. Companies with diverse teams perform better financially, but achieving greater diversity and inclusion is a complex process that requires investment and commitment from leadership.

In the tech sector, where demand for talent is high, encouraging a more diverse set of candidates to pursue careers in tech and cybersecurity could help alleviate skills shortages. However, barriers such as the misconception that a tech degree is necessary and a lack of technology education in primary and secondary schools must be addressed.
