A violent armed robbery took place at a Wells Fargo ATM in Prince George’s County on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, leading to a police chase that ended in a deadly crash at the Maryland/ D.C. line. Three suspects attempted to rob a victim at gunpoint before fleeing in a white BMW. The suspects were pursued by multiple law enforcement agencies and eventually crashed into a tree, resulting in two fatalities and one suspect in custody with injuries. The suspects were also connected to a previous robbery the day before in Bowie. Police recovered a firearm thrown from the vehicle during the chase and are investigating the incident. The suspects were involved in a scheme known as “bank jugging” where they follow bank customers suspected of carrying large amounts of cash. The incident highlights the dangers of violent crime and the efforts of law enforcement to apprehend dangerous criminals. The Maryland State Police, U.S. Park Police, Prince George’s County Police Department, Metropolitan Police Department, and Anne Arundel County Police Departments are all involved in the investigation.
