The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is set to open the lottery process for hunters and riparian landowners to secure a waterfowl blind site license for the 2024-2025 season. From July 15 to July 29, individuals with a DNRid can register online for a chance to obtain a license in the county of their choice. There is no fee to enter the lottery, but applicants must be Maryland residents who have purchased a hunting license. Landowners are exempt from the hunting license requirement but must show proof of property ownership.
Winners of the lottery will be posted on the DNR website and will be notified via email with details for a virtual meeting to complete the blind site licensing process. These virtual meetings will begin on August 6 and continue during regular business hours. After the initial lottery period, blind site licensing for all counties will be by appointment only, with customers able to schedule appointments online starting on August 14 for meetings beginning on August 19.
Interested participants can register for a DNRid through the department’s online licensing portal and can find additional information and instructions on the DNR website. The lottery offers hunters and landowners the opportunity to secure prime waterfowl hunting locations for the upcoming season.
