Maryland Football had a busy weekend with multiple commitments from top defensive players. Edge rusher Sidney Stewart from Concordia Prep in Towson, Md., and defensive lineman Delmar White from Archbishop Spalding in Severn, Md., both announced their decisions to join the Terps through Instagram. Stewart, the 97th-ranked player at his position, chose Maryland over Boston College, Indiana, and Virginia Tech. White, unranked in the 247Sports Composite, also received offers from UMass, Maine, and Stony Brook. Their commitments bring Maryland’s class of 2025 total to 17 players.
The Terps also secured commitments from four-star quarterback Malik Washington, three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps, and three-star linebacker Travares Daniels II last weekend. In basketball news, former Maryland players Jalen Smith and Aaron Wiggins signed new NBA contracts. On the track, Maryland Track and Field assistant coach Rudy Winkler qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Additionally, four former Maryland men’s lacrosse players made the 2025 U.S. Men’s U20 Training Team that will compete in South Korea next year. Sean Creter, Spencer Ford, Thomas Gravino, and Peter Laake were selected for the team. This flurry of commitments and achievements across multiple sports showcases Maryland’s strong presence in collegiate athletics and its ability to attract talented players and coaches.
