Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been selected to play on the WNBA All-Star team, which will face off against the U.S. Olympic team led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart. Clark was the leading vote-getter from fans, while Reese also received a significant number of votes. Both rookies have been performing well on the court and have been key players in boosting ratings, merchandise sales, and attendance for the WNBA.
Joining Clark and Reese on the WNBA team are DeWanna Bonner, Brionna Jones, Allisha Gray, Dearica Hamby, Jonquel Jones, Kayla McBride, Kelsey Mitchell, Nneka Ogwumike, and Arike Ogunbowale. Ogunbowale was the MVP of the 2021 All-Star game.
The U.S. Olympic team, aiming for an eighth consecutive gold medal in Paris, features players like Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Napheesa Collier, Jewell Loyd, Alyssa Thomas, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kahleah Copper.
The All-Star game will also include a 3-point challenge and a skill contest the night before the game. Taurasi, who will be vying for a record sixth Olympic gold medal, will be playing in her 11th All-Star game, putting her second on the all-time list behind Sue Bird. This year marks the 20th All-Star Game in the league’s history.
