Beverly Beach in Maryland offers an abundance of scenic waterfront views

Located in Beverly Beach, Md., residents enjoy the serene waterfront community nestled between the Chesapeake Bay, the Rhode River, and Beverly Triton Nature Park. The neighborhood, with its rich history dating back to the early 20th century, offers a mix of original cottages, renovated homes, and million-dollar houses.

Formerly known as Beverley Beach, the community was once a popular weekend destination for Baltimore and D.C. residents who flocked to swim, boat, and fish before the opening of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in 1952. Over the years, the neighborhood has transformed into a unique blend of approximately 400 houses, ranging from beach bungalows to luxury residences.

With an average sale price of $460,000 over the past year, Beverly Beach offers residents the opportunity to enjoy water views and access without the higher taxes associated with waterfront property. The neighborhood’s private marina on Cadle Creek and proximity to Beverly Triton Nature Park provide endless opportunities for outdoor activities such as crabbing, fishing, and hiking.

Despite its picturesque setting, Beverly Beach also has a complex history that includes a dark period of segregation under the former owner, Edgar S. Kalb, who restricted Black and Jewish individuals from purchasing cottages or using the beach. Eventually, in 1968, the resort closed rather than integrate, leading to the eventual establishment of Beverly Triton Nature Park in 1984.

Today, Beverly Beach residents maintain a strong sense of community solidarity, coming together in times of need such as power outages and flooding. The neighborhood’s unique charm and tight-knit atmosphere make it a desirable place to live for those seeking a peaceful and close-knit waterfront community within close proximity to major metropolitan areas like Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
