Chibuzo, 22, and Ekele, 25, share their experiences of being in a same-sex relationship in Lagos, Nigeria, where homosexuality is punishable by up to 14 years in prison. They met on a dating app and face challenges such as homophobic attacks on the streets and the constant fear of being discovered. They were recently forced to live separately due to their landlord discovering their relationship. They now struggle to find a place where they can be together and express their love openly. Ekele, in particular, misses the intimacy of sharing living space with Chibuzo and hopes to find a place where they can be together day and night. Despite the challenges, they remain committed to each other and continue to navigate the difficulties of being in a same-sex relationship in a society where their love is not accepted. Their story sheds light on the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Nigeria and the need for more understanding and acceptance.
