Maryland football received a major boost in their recruitment efforts with the commitment of local four-star quarterback Malik Washington from Archbishop Spalding. Washington is the highest-ranked recruit for the Terps since Rico Walker in 2023. He is the No. 23 quarterback in his class and the No. 8 player from Maryland. Washington cited the offensive system and early playing opportunities as factors in his decision to commit to Maryland over Syracuse, UCF, and Virginia Tech. His impressive junior season led to him being named the 2023-24 Baltimore Sun high school boys Athlete of the Year. With Washington joining the Terps, the 2025 recruiting class now includes 15 players and is ranked No. 35 nationally, up from No. 51. Washington’s commitment marks a significant addition to the Maryland football program and has the potential to make a big impact on the field in the coming years.
