A lawsuit was filed by 45Footwear LLC, the company behind former President Donald Trump’s new sneaker line, alleging trademark and copyright violations related to the sale and promotion of counterfeit shoes. The defendants, who are not named in the lawsuit, are individuals, unincorporated business associations, and business entities mostly located outside the U.S. operating through domestic commercial websites. The company’s attorneys are seeking to prohibit the defendants from reproducing and selling counterfeit sneakers, and are asking for monetary compensation for trademark and copyright violations. The Trump Sneakers line, launched in February, includes high-tops, red laceless athletic shoes, and white laceless athletic shoes, priced between $199 and $399, adorned with the letter “T.” The shoes have been promoted as a benefit for high-dollar donors, but are not affiliated with Trump’s campaign. Attorneys for 45Footwear stated that they had hired an online fraud investigator who identified people and businesses involved in selling counterfeit sneakers before authentic Sneakers were even shipped.
